    CVD Lab Grown Diamonds Description


    Laboratory diamonds, known as synthetic diamonds.
    There are two ways to create rough lab-grown diamonds. One way is for scientists to use graphite on a huge machine, which smashes diamonds with extremely high pressure and high temperatures-just like when the earth formed natural diamonds. The high pressure high temperature (HPHT) process turns graphite into diamond. In the second method CVD, scientists put diamond "seed crystals" into a chamber filled with ordinary gas. When the gas is heated, they begin to form a carbon layer on the seed crystals, allowing them to grow and eventually form rough lab-grown diamonds. Generally speaking, the color grade of diamonds produced by HPHT is higher than that by CVD. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is a method to grow diamond from hydrocarbon gas mixture. The flexibility and simplicity of CVD devices explain the popularity of CVD growth in laboratory research. The advantages of CVD diamond growth include the ability to grow diamond on large area and different substrates, as well as the fine control of chemical impurities and properties of the diamond.
